  • tale stereotypes and pig-headed prejudices irk the heck out of me. For some reaons it seems irresistible to tag every place in the world with a one-liner summary and keep going there to confirm your convictions time after time. Romantic Paris, Wild East Russia, Pothead Amsterdam, the Vagina of the World Bangkok, oh so mysterious Japan, Wining and Dining in Tuscany, tango in Buenos Aires, passion of Spain...

There is certain truth behind such common places but they also blinker the visitor from seeing any other aspect of the place beyond the convenient label.

I follow a number of travel-related publications and TV channels and after a while it all starts looking as the same old merry-go-round of re-visited topics and mass-produced oversimplifications. The umpteenth time of the bridges in Budapest, gondolas of Venice, up and down Route 66 or wok stir-fries in Southern China. It is still fun to hear over and over again about the hackneyed pyramids of Egypt, the old and tired Incan treasures, sipping aperitif in a Parisian cafe, or yet another Caribbean island (aren't they just one and the same filmed from different angles?).

It is a crying shame that there so few breakthroughs into the unknown or less explored. This planet is a true font of unlimited content opportunities. I have dozens upon dozens of ruly original concepts for travel series and features that would show each possible travel destination from a number of very different unexpected angles. I have never seen even any hints of moving towards those directions in any of the travel documentaries or articles I have gone through last few years. Some factual materials is presented here. I have a world more in my laptop.
